David Chiaramonti, PhD, teaches Bioenergy Conversion Technologies at the University of Florence. He is member of CREAR and chairman of the Renewable Energy COnsortium for R&D (RE-CORD), University of Florence. His main scientific interest is on the production and use in engines/turbines of biofuels, and on bioproducts, mainly focusing on thermochemical biomass conversion and process development. Recent activities cover aviation biofuel, catalytic biomass pyrolysis and gasification in pilot/demo reactors, hydrothermal liquefaction and carbonisaton, methanation, algae cultivation systems and downstream processing. He has authored more than 180 publications on International Journals and Conferences, and participated to more than 25 EU projects in the field of Biomass. He is member of the Scientific and Organising Committees of major conferences in the field: EUBCE, ISAF, ICAE. He has been member and Country Representative of IEA-Bioenergy, Task 34 - Biomass Pyrolysis and IEA Task 39 (Liquid Biofuel), and at UN-ICAO CAEP AFTF (ICAO task force on Alternative Fuels for aviation). He is a member of the Italian and the European Biofuel Technology Platforms, and former technical secretary of the Leaders for Sustainable Biofuels. David chairs the German Biomass Research Center (DBFZ) Research Advisory Council (RAC) of the German Minister for Agriculture. He is the scientific coordinator of ART-Fuels Forum.
