Visit to Exemplary Buildings in the Brussels-Capital Region
In 2007, the Brussels-Capital Region launched a major stimulus programme for the renovation and construction of buildings meeting high energy and environmental standards: the ‘Exemplary Buildings’ call for projects.
After six calls, the Brussels-Capital Region gave grants to 243 projects for a total of 620 000 m² of sustainable buildings, 64 % of which are passive buildings and many of which use renewables. The Brussels Nearly Zero Energy Building Policy, with its exemplary buildings, was granted the EUSEW Award 2012 in the ‘Living’ category.
On 20 June, a guided tour (bilingual English-French) will visit two exemplary buildings in Brussels, one being the Oxygen Office Building in Rue de Spa, a newly built passive building in the European Disctrict, the other being the VUB swimming pool, a high-energy-performance retrofitting with specific attention to sustainability and the circular economy.
