Shakeib Arshad

Shakeib has 25 years of experience in large-scale R&D, with a focus on fusion energy development. He started his career at the UK Atomic Energy Authority at Culham, working on JET, the world’s largest operating fusion reactor. Subsequently he worked on construction of a large accelerator (the LHC) at CERN, Geneva; on developing R&D strategy for oil & gas exploration at McKinsey & Co., London; and is now working at F4E, Barcelona, on the ITER project, the next step in fusion R&D beyond JET, aimed at demonstrating the scientific viability of fusion energy. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, a master’s degree in fusion energy and a doctorate in control systems for fusion, from Oxford University.
