Stavros Chatzipanagiotou

Stavros Chatzipanagiotou has been working at the European institutions for more than 25 years he has made a significant contribution to the development of research policy and the realisation of fusion energy.

He has spent most of his career in the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation, where he held various positions, such as Head of Unit for the establishment of ‘Fusion for Energy’ and Head of the Office of the Director-General.

He headed the Commission team which moved to Barcelona to set up ‘Fusion for Energy’ and he subsequently became its first Head of Resources.

In the last 4 years as Head of Communication, he has been actively promoting fusion energy as a viable source of energy, an integral part of the sustainable future mix, as well as highlighting the European industrial contribution to making the ITER project a reality.
