EUSEW 2017 – what a week!

2290 participants, 422 speakers, organisers of 50 networking activities – and not forgetting an impressive 22 749 Award voters … thanks to everyone who helped make the 2017 EU Sustainable Energy Week policy conference such a success!

The 2017 EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) policy conference brought together leaders and innovators to accelerate the transition to clean energy for all Europeans. Along with side events, participants enjoyed a week of debate, idea-sharing and discovery to inspire new initiatives to promote energy-saving and renewables.

EUSEW Awards 2017: and the winners are …

The winners of the 2017 EU Sustainable Energy Awards have been announced at the Awards Ceremony in Brussels. Which projects swayed the judges and the public vote?

Twelve projects made it to the Awards shortlist this year, three in each of the categories: Consumers, Public Sector, Energy Islands, and Businesses. A further Award was decided by a public online vote in the weeks leading up to EUSEW 2017.

Travel restrictions in Schuman area 22-23 June

A safety zone from the Schuman roundabout to rue Juste Lipse will be closed to traffic and pedestrians from 22 to 23 June. Public transport will also be disrupted. The Charlemagne Building and Residence Palace are still accessible but delegates must avoid the safety zone.

On Thursday 22 June and Friday 23 June, a European Summit of EU heads of state and government will be held in Brussels in the Council of the European Union building in rue de la Loi. A safety zone will be set up around this area, which will be closed off to all non-authorised persons.


A new open source assessment framework for sustainable buildings, Level(s), has been developed by the European Commission in close collaboration with stakeholders including Skanska, Saint-Gobain, Sustainable Building Alliance and Green Building Councils. It will be presented on 21 June during the 2017 EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) policy conference at the session ‘EU voluntary initiatives to achieve a sustainable building stock’.
