EUSEW 2016 call for Energy Days

Energy Days are your opportunity to raise awareness of sustainable energy use and renewables. Organise your event and share it on the EUSEW website.

Do you have an idea for an event to encourage energy savings, inspire interest in renewables or boost business from green energy? Why not register it as an Energy Day – part of EU Sustainable Energy Week in June 2016. The focus this year is on energy consumers.

Energy Union on track, says first State of the Energy Union Report

Report shows good progress to climate and energy goals, but Europe must maintain momentum. Legislation, partnerships and policy will impact 2016 outcomes.

Europe is delivering on its climate and energy goals, says the EU’s first State of the Energy Union Report. Results were particularly strong for delinking greenhouse gas emissions from economic growth, while there was good progress in energy efficiency and energy markets.

EU backs projects for Europe-wide energy network

The European Commission announces finance and support for trans-national energy infrastructure projects, to build an EU-wide network based on secure, low-carbon power.

The Commission has added 195 projects to its list of Projects of Common Interest (PCI). These projects – in areas such as electricity, gas, oil and grid management – will work on integrating energy markets, improving energy security and cutting CO2 emissions in two or more Member States.

Renewables to drive Europe’s energy system

There is a strong climate and business case for renewables, says EU Commissioner for Energy and Climate Action Miguel Arias Cañete. But markets and policies must further boost private investment.

Renewables have been proven to reduce world emissions; while the switch to clean energy makes sense for investors, growth and jobs, Commissioner Cañete told January’s General Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
