The changing landscape of renewable energy financing and support
- What are the key ingredients for kick-starting markets for renewable energy?
- How to increase the share of energy from Renewable Energy Sources (RES) in EU Member States and neighboring countries in a cost-efficient way?
- What are key market mechanisms to achieve increasing deployment of RES?
- How can we scale up renewable energy markets and attract private sector investors?
The EBRD and CEER will provide their experiences in order to elaborate on these and more challenges focussing on the changing landscape for both renewable energy financing and support.
The EBRD will share its experience of supporting market development and investing into a wide spectrum of renewable energy projects and will highlight different support mechanism for renewable energy development and discuss the context in which each of them are most suited.
CEER will highlight the experiences gained in EU member states with competitive tendering as a support instrument to determine the appropriate level of financial support for renewable energy. These experiences provide useful lessons for other countries aiming to start tendering procedures for RES.
The session will provide an opportunity for a lively discussion about different support mechanisms and how they can be used to foster different types of renewable energy projects in various market contexts. The session will be moderated by the EBRD’s Director of External Communications.
The panel will bring in various market players’ perspectives: EBRD’s Director for Energy Efficiency and Climate Change, senior experts from the Bank’s Power and Energy Team, project developers, a financier, policy makers, energy regulators, CEER Secretary General and expert from the Electricity Working Group and co-chair of CEER's Sustainable Development work stream.
