LIFE Platform Meeting on Climate Action and the Building Sector
Buildings are responsible for approximately 40% of energy consumption and 36% of CO2 emissions in the EU. Improved building material with enhanced insulation properties, energy saving systems and devices, even renewable energy generation capacity, are being introduced to new and old buildings with the end goal of a decarbonised building stock by 2050. Moreover, building codes increasingly foresee measures to ensure the building sector’s resilience vis-à-vis future climatic conditions and extreme weather events. This conference will feature innovative elements and good practices in terms of technical aspects, as well as in terms of funding and capacity building for achieving nearly zero energy and climate resilient buildings in the EU, along with feedback on current policy implementation. Participants will include LIFE and other EU-funded projects, industry representatives, possible funders, officials from the EU, national and local levels, and other experts.
