Christof Timpe works as Head of the Energy and Climate Division at Öko-Institut since 1996. His work on European energy policy focuses on the development of renewable energy through adequate remuneration schemes and voluntary demand. He has advised policy makers and stakeholders on the Renewable Energy Directive of 2009 and on its current revision. In the field of voluntary demand for green power, he has contributed to the development of European tracking mechanisms for renewable energy such as the Guarantees of Origin. Linked to these activities, he assesses the effects of using electricity in the transport sector. Furthermore, he works on the effects of energy transition on electricity transmission and distribution networks.
