Pierre Bénard is a professor of Physics at the University of Quebec in Trois-Rivières. He is the director of the Hydrogen Research Institute. He holds a PhD in Physics in Condensed Matter Theory from the University of Sherbrooke and a Masters in Physics from the University of Toronto. His research interests revolve around the development of new materials for energy applications, specifically for the storage and purification of hydrogen. He is also interested in the use of computer fluid dynamics and the development of reduced models for the safe use of hydrogen. He is a member of the board of directors of the Canadian Hydrogen and Fuel Cells Association and a member of the HySafe International Association for hydrogen safety.
