Passive house: The nZEB* that delivers – The international passive house association

The European Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) requires the large-scale implementation of nearly Zero-Energy Buildings (nZEBs) for public buildings from 2019 and for all other buildings from 2021. The uptake of nZEB construction and renovation is still a significant challenge for member states, market actors and other stakeholders.
The International Passive House Association’s stand deals directly with implementation strategies, and the tried and tested Passive House concept for energy efficient construction. The Passive House Standard is clearly defined, with precise criteria and based on sound scientific evidence. Moreover, it embodies an existing, supranational, consistent, quality assured implementation of the nZEB definitions:
-    Very high energy performance.
-    Cost-optimal levels of energy performance from a life-cycle perspective.
-    Low remaining energy demand covered to a very significant extent by energy from renewable sources, including renewable energy produced on-site or nearby.
